Growing Closer with Yourself

These last few months have felt..crazy, depressing, lazy, and motivating all at once. I’ve distanced myself from not only large crowds and other humans but I’ve also stepped away from the toxicity of social media.

I’m dealing with my own shit and the last thing I need right now is a daily update on how you’re doing…when I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time. Or what day of the week it is for that matter…

Not to mention, social media is so damn depressing. Maybe it’s the people I follow, but I always happen to come across something negative, devastating, or a piece of content that makes me feel utterly insecure.

Why spend hours on the phone consuming negative content, when you can be creating your own content, writing, reading, working on goals, perfecting your craft, and doing what you're most passionate about?

Since March, I’ve been focusing less on others and more on myself. And it’s been a rewarding and eye-opening journey of self-discovery. Not to mention, it’s been wildly refreshing to not wake up and immediately hop on Instagram.

I don’t want to waste any more time worrying about things I cannot change, when I can be working on things I have the power to change.

I stumbled upon a quote today that read:

“Happiness is where you are now, or nowhere at all. It’s not a new relationship, it’s not a new job, it’s not a completed goal, and it’s not a new car. Until you give up on the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.”
